Inclusion

Our highly inclusive and increasingly neuro-affirming approach ensures that learning is accessible, meaningful and ambitious for all pupils. Through adaptive teaching, specialist staff expertise, strong family partnerships and a deep understanding of neurodiversity, we create environments where differences are embraced and barriers to learning are reduced. This enables children, particularly those with SEND and additional needs, to develop confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging while achieving success across all areas of school life.

SEND

The exceptionally high proportion of pupils with SEND and EHCPs has shaped a highly inclusive and responsive model of provision at Rosedale CE Infant School. Through highly skilled adaptive teaching, extensive staff training, strong partnerships with families and five Supported Learning Provisions, barriers to learning are identified and addressed effectively. This ensures that children with complex needs develop the independence, communication and self-regulation skills needed to access learning successfully, make meaningful progress and thrive within the school community.

Trauma Informed and Responsive

We are a trauma-informed school that places relationships at the heart of everything we do. We understand that children's behaviour is often shaped by their experiences and individual needs, and we respond with empathy, patience and understanding. Through strong relationships, emotion coaching, co-regulation and personalised support, we help children feel safe, secure and ready to learn. By seeing behaviour as communication and prioritising connection before correction, we remove barriers to learning and enable every child to flourish.

SEMH

The high level of social, emotional and mental health needs across our school community has led to a highly responsive and comprehensive SEMH offer. Through early identification, regular screening, targeted interventions, therapeutic support and close collaboration with families, children receive timely, personalised support that promotes wellbeing, emotional regulation and readiness to learn. This whole-school commitment ensures that barriers to learning are addressed effectively, allowing pupils to flourish both academically and emotionally.

Nurture

Our fully nurturing approach, recognised through the National Nurturing Schools Award, is a key strength of the school and underpins our success in meeting the needs of a highly complex pupil population. Through a combination of whole-school nurturing practice and increasingly targeted nurture provision, children develop the emotional security, resilience and self-regulation needed to access learning successfully. This relational approach removes barriers to learning, strengthens wellbeing and ensures that all children, particularly those with SEND, SEMH and attachment needs, are able to thrive.
