Inclusion and Wellbeing

We are a highly inclusive school and use a wide range of approaches to ensure children fully access learning which is developmentally appropriate. Creative, personalised strategies enable children to access learning successfully, and we maintain high expectations for all, regardless of any differences they may have. We share a collective understanding that children learn in different ways; we embrace learning differences and staff hold a shared responsibility for meeting the needs of children who learn differently.

We are well into our journey towards a whole school neuro‑affirming approach. This includes a commitment to reducing cognitive load, strengthening long‑term memory, and using a range of teaching styles that reflect how children process information. We plan regular opportunities for children to be active, recognising the strong link between movement, regulation and learning. These approaches sit alongside our trauma‑informed practice, adaptive teaching and restorative approaches, ensuring consistency and compassion across all classrooms.

Families of children with SEND Support Plans (and the children themselves where possible) are actively involved in shaping and reviewing targets, ensuring provision remains collaborative, transparent and empowering. Staff receive ongoing CPD to deepen their expertise in SEND, SEMH, neurodiversity and inclusive pedagogy, ensuring that every child experiences belonging and success.
